Il giorno 17 giugno 2000, su indicazioni di Antoniuccia Sbertoli (impiegata presso il Comune a Santo Stefano d'Aveto che ebbi modo di conoscere frequentando l'archivio comunale alla ricerca di documenti antichi riguardanti la Val d'Aveto), trovai il Castello di Rezzoaglio (o meglio... i suoi ruderi) e sulla piana sottostante i resti di un antico villaggio che in un prossimo futuro sarà auspicabilmente interessato da una campagna di studi da parte degli amici medievisti, storici, archeologi e storici dell'arte. Il campanile di Rezzoaglio batteva sordi rintocchi ma a me dello scorrer del tempo poco importava: c'eravamo solo io ed il mio castello, quasi un rapporto di simbiosi. Il campanile, di là dall'Aveto, attraverso l'occhio della torre campanaria sembrava guardare, curioso e bonario, a quel pazzo che si arrovellava a salire e scendere dalla collinetta spianata in cerca di chissà cosa: aveva forse smarrito la ragione?
