Anche i Balbi, già Barbi, mantenevano sullo stemma nobiliare il pesce da cui trasse origine il soprannome di Barbo dato al capostipite (forse per via della sua rada barbetta) che in seguito (trasformatosi in Balbo o Balbi) dette il nome al casato.
